My day started with a need for a strawberry milkshake. I only realised this about 5 minutes after throwing my keys on the table at work and sitting down. Got up and took myself by the scruff of the neck to Mac Dees and got a free Milkshake which was cool.
Slow start to the day, wasn't because of anything specific. Doesn't matter because the day rapidly became more interesting(faster) as I had to wrap my head around a crazy almost encrypted pieces of Database script(SQL if you know) which was enough to give my brain something to kick around and the longer it kicked the metaphorical tin-can around the more it got peeved with it... I don't mind slow days or fast days or medium or half-fast and half-slow days...I'm just saying - mine was a slow starter, that's all. Anyway, basically I was pretty much involved with this script that by the end of the day I'd figured what the heck it was saying!
Cool feeling.
I was involved in a bubble gum bubble blowing competition with Nick, who sits next to me - I won but I had to confess that it was because I had 2 gums instead of 1. That was quick break as I was still stuck with kicking that can...
Had pretty much a day of music, apart from displaying my bubble-blowing prowess. The artist of choice today was Greenday and in supprised at how much I like them. Lunch consisted of a Brie, Bacon and cranberry panini and a tuna salad and a coke.

According to NASA, the human being requires about 830g of air a day which is roughly one large balloon and 4000-5000 calories of food intake a day which amounts to 800g of dry mass. Ah ok so I was thinking... I go to work each day on the tube and near the end of my journey which takes probably on average 40 minutes, I get really tired and even more so on the journey back home. I'm thinking that this is because the amount of Carbon Dioxide reaches a point where there is more of it than air in the carriages. Pretty scary thought if I'm right but anyway, breathing in the gas causes us to feel sleepy and I wondered what if we had this ballon(which may not be 830g as that seems too small?) and used that instead of the co2 how much awake we'd be. Ok, granted a stupid thought...but a thought non the less!
With all these resource calculations, this brings me to my next few thoughts.
In 2050 there will be 9 billion people. That's according to David Attenborough. The world is producing more people than that which the earth can sustain. We already cultivate as much as we can. Large countries are buying land in Africa to grow food(another story) and since the 1800's our population has creased exponentially as we've overcomes diseases with medical advances. Another issue: Water. We've only got a finite amount of water and as we demand more and more, it'll become less available. Water doesn't go away, it just becomes unavailable as we consume it - the same amount of water is on the earth as there was when the earth began. Interesting. That said, drought is an increasing problem in Africa and recently Texas is having a torrid tine due to the worst drought in years.
Pollution and greenhouse affect our natural world and if there is one thing that sustains growth and the Hunan being is the food it needs and gets from agriculture. With space at q premium and couple that with our destruction of the natural world, sustaining the worlds human population becomes a real problem. We've not talked about how all these human problems affect the animals but that's another story.
Although, what does this mean for the man on the street? Should I buy a car or not. Should I have children? How many. These are questions that are taboo but are a reality but still ignored. I think if we had to continue at the rate we are going, then look back at the consequences, it'd be plain to see that the only conclusion that could be realised is that humans don't care about the earth. Plain as day.
Can we do anything about it? No not really. We can try but as humans we are a team, a social collective and it's this collective team that doesn't Care about the earth. Remember I'm talking about billions of people here, not the NGOs or minority human groups who are interested at our conservation on earth.
The huge problem is that the uneducated people in the world produce more offspring than all other groups, so as an educated person a choice not to buy a car or have children may not have an impact if everyone else will just do it for you, then do it in excess. Obviously the argument there is that as educated people, it's our obligation to educate those that aren't educated and obviously knowing the problems not make them worse anyway . In this way you and me can make a difference.
Maybe the survival of the human being is overcoming our own ability and knowing when to stop. That is very very difficult because as a race we are progressive and will continue to move forward and forward not worrying about what we trample on.

Todays post starts with an unusual thought about the thousands of people who went to war being ready to give up their lives. Got me thinking about how ones outlook on life is when you 'become' ready to die. Interesting thought because to come to this conclusion, one needs to know that you will die and that's ok by you. What an exceptional realisation. It makes me think that to come to this conclusion you really need have dim view of your life or so bright that that the very thought of the future of life, like the one you lead is too important and must be conserved for those that you love - at your expense.
It's an intense thought and an intense decision.
Anyway besides that, I've been playing with sharemyplaylist.com to find new, alternative music. Its been great, found an awesome playlist to sleep to, rolling stones top 500 songs and countless other alternative playlists. Couldn't be exposed to that range of music a couple if years ago. For me, listening to new music is a relief, like reading a new book...but shorter and as exciting.
Had a great day yesterday at work. everything worked but I imagine I'll have to break something soon enough :-)
Started thinking about taking the conscious decision to start reading sine of the unread books that I know are interesting(why I bought them) but not read yet. Crazy really.
Skipped the gym last night, started raining and by blisters on my heels were convincing enough - pity because I was just to head out and then the thought of me running in my running shoes with blisters, turned me right off.
Got a little bored though at work yesterday(one of the disadvantages of not breaking things) and I found myself sniffing through the latest T3 magazine which had an article on how the world, technology and pretty everything that's progressive has progressed because of of the advances pornography. What a strange thought. Obviously this is not accurate but it was an interesting read to see how much that industry really has been helped and helps technology in the mainstream. That kinda got boring halfway but not before I found some interesting facts: approximately $3000 is spent on porn every second I. America, every half an hour, a porn flick is being created and more interesting is that the US state of Illinois, per head is consumes the more porn. Whats going down in Illinois?
Made my first peanut butter and jam sandwich, since being in the UK last night. I pretty much could live off that stuff to be honest. Actually there is a thought. How much nutritional value does it have and could it sustain a growing 24 year old man...I'll need to visit the Internet oracle.
I learnt a cool word on the weekend. Frat-boy. It was used in an article describing how new nature documentaries are showing how hosts follow in the footsteps of Steve Irwin and piss animals off. The author describes them with a combo multi syllable insult. Frat OU was one of those.
