Dude, I'm recieving signals from outter space!
But the great thing is that it easy to use and I enjoy seeing all those stats!
I would seriously recommend looking at the Garmin product line if you are thinking about getting fit or into shape or generally getting healthy. Garmin's functionality when it comes to analysing what you do and where you go is fantastic. It can assist you manage goals and reminds you when you are not meeting them while you run. The Virtual partner allows you watch to communicate with you and encourages you to work harder when you are slacking off!
Pretty cool I'd say - I've got the Forerunner 405CX model and I'm loving it!

Lots of things have been happening since I last updated my blogsy here. First, I got 2 new neighbours. I got a new hard case and Polaroid lenses for my sun glasses and. running armband for my iPhone. Waited impatiently for them to arrive via post to my flat. I nearly hugged postman, but i didn't. Unfortunately my new earphones broke and I'm too bloody upset to talk about them any further. I got a good replacement set, not the same but pretty good - in fact in my turmoil, vexation and despair, I ended up buying 2 new pairs of headphones. was a big gap to fill is my argument- Both good but still...utter despair.
Olympics has been on and so I've been lucky enough to work from home for the past two weeks to watch it. I love watching athletics...more than I sometimes like staring at my laptop. Hush up about that though :-)
I'm still running to a schedule, every second day, it's at least 5kms(6kns recently) and it makes me feel pretty good. Today's run around Wimbledon was absolutely earth shatteringly bloody strenuous; but made reaching the front door much much sweeter. I never loved a cold shower more than I do after such a run. Not only that, but I also have a new schedule which is as good: breakfast, daily with milk and a chair. I sit on the chair, in front of my bowl which is on the counter in the kitchen; I don't have the chair with my breakfast - that's be daft now wouldn't it!
Yeah, besides that I'm still cutting sugar & salt out, but to a lesser degree salt but I don't buy salt either. I'm staying away from high fat foods and grilling most of my food now. Discovered smoked haddock to be pretty damn awesome and really fish in general to be not only low in fat but just plain good tasting. Had trout the other day, a new one for me. Also whoever invented the grill steak should be made a statue of in his/her honour(see, not sexist). So, I've been having that quite a bit. Had a fairly good bash at cooking asparagus and baby marrow in the oven yesterday and dreadfully failed with the egg plant( they call them Aubergines here). They were, unfortunately incinerated, beyond all recognition; what can I say, I forgot about them a little;maybe a lot...
Helped my neighbour clean up the entrance to our flats and cleaned the recycle bins which were quite frankly bloody scary, all that was pretty good- I mean the cleanup and collaboration... Looks waay much better now. In doing so ,I Had to get down and dirty and had to forcefully relocate a number of slug households but after much deliberation, we got a peaceful settlement.
Still loving my Seiko Pathfinder (PAW1500-7V) watch, there is something to be said about the serenity and peace of mind obtained by having something that doesn't need batteries, is atomically self setting and does just about anything you might decide you'd like to play with while you're bored or admiring its brutal and practical design features and as someone once said to be, form follows design; and what a design! Anyway enough geek distraction and salivation for one night.
The flat below me was burgled. That's had me thinking abut about safety, contents insurance(and I detest insurance on principle) as well as having a full iPad geekathon looking for wireless intrusion detection systems. I found one. Should I buy it? It phones you when a intrusion is detected...hell yeah! That started the wayward trend recently of going to be sub 1am. Not good. Not good for a healthy recovering body either! Doh!
Watched Batman. That's blew my little mind far far away. Watched Ted, that was strangely enjoyable if supremely crude and cringeworthy at times.
I had a passing thought of joining Facebook; but that passed. In fact, it whizzed past so fast, I'm not sure it's coming back. A good thing no doubt.
One downer is that I've not continued my lunchtime reading ritual since I've been at home. Monday will be back at work, hello lunchtime reading! Spoke to my Grandparents today. That was nice; they told me about all the places they went to on their most recent trip to Scotland. Goodness just thinking; Namibia is far away from Scotland. Then again, so is South Africa.
Want to go back to South Africa. Just for a visit. See my folks. Might go in the new year...cousin is having a wedding; these are in fashion at the moment, along with Lady Gaga and deck shoes.
Been working on new project, kinda cool, working with another programmer who has been also based at home during the Olympics. We share a similar, dry, whittled, subtle and satire humour in our conversations while keeping the seriousness of work looming in the background with the Olympics on TV. Ha!
Passed my most recent university course, I have java coming out of my ears. Need to move on to the next one I guess.
Oh and I love Jelly.
That's all I have to say about that.
