So I'm standing here on the platform waiting for my train and the thought of Zimbabwe and Mugabe pops into my mind. Initially I started thinking about what he must be like as a person, a father and husband and thinking surely he must be a devoted and dedicated person in this respect. Why I think I started this train of thought(see that pun?) was because I was meddling with the thought of a Zimbabwe without him. Would it undergo a miraculous positive change which is so fundamental that his absence could warrant it.
I was thinking essentially of the possibility of him being removed from government and one extreme would be assassination, another would be a coup or essentially a change in attitude and will of the people of Zimbabwe. I empathised with Mugabe if one considers death to be an option because not only is murder fundamentally wrong but it's even more so when he might be a decent father/parent or uncle or whatever.
You will argue that death and murder in this respect is OK because of the countless deaths and murders that will be at his hand in the future. Capture and imprisonment sound like better, more humane alternatives. Because if we kill him, we are no better than him essentially.
just thinking

Every action has a reaction.
duh.
If you choose a particular action, the reaction could end up with desired results or pretty much mess things up and in most cases is the wrong action to have taken.
The good thing about ending with the wrong reaction is knowing for the future that that action you took was the wrong action - obviously(unless you have bad short term memory..).
I think these mistakes, witnesses and reactions are the building blocks of experience. I'm of the opinion that experience is a personal journey of construction, made up more importantly of mistakes, these failures and successes. The only real way you can build experience like any other building exercise is on a construction site, where all materials you need are available. In the same way, in life I think giving yourself opportunity to fail or succeed is putting yourself on a construction site. You really cannot build in the bath or in the kitchen and in the same way you cannot learn about money and project delivery without taking on a project or going into and out of debt(obviously -moderation, moderation, moderation) but it's putting yourself in positions like this, where reactions(as a result of your actions) will occur that defines not only your character but builds your experience.
Loosing is not great but it let's you know you're doing something differently to the winner. You can then take the opportunity to become better. In this way, I value the essence of life which if you let it, becomes a series of actions you take and reactions that you learn from - again if you decide that you want to be on the proverbial cobstuction site.
The difficulty in taking this approach I suppose is getting over the social stereotype that the only way in life is to choose correctly which action you want to take to get the desired reaction. This is the shortest way to move forward without having to assess failures because you assume or you are in fact right. But often failures are seen as useless, which they are certainly not and not enough time is taken to assess and learn from them. I think learning from mistakes involves more than assessing the damage but also involves character, patience, determination and foresight which I think also contributes to an individuals personal growth.
In short, there is a lot of value in mistakes and being wrong if you understand that.
The other thing that I've found is that wisdom really is just a story of experience.
On a personal note, while you should yield at wisdom, living and experiencing the story of wisdom like learning is so much more effective than just accepting an answer or the moral of the story. At times I get restless with wisdom because you can't proove it until you perform it. Obviously if you can't perform it, the story/wisdom is the next best indicator of which action you should perform. I suppose that's the story of ones life, choosing which advice to follow and which you'd like to define for yourself.

Had a hugely unproductive day today. Stupidly unproductive. I just looked at stuff today and was like "...huh, what?". dunno what it is, just didn't click today I suppose. Maybe it was the whole bank holiday thing but normally that doesn't affect me, nor should it.
Sorta halfway through the day I got a headache and well, it just lingered most of the day. Now thinking about it, I think it's down me not eating today, apart from 2 packets of chips and a strawberry milkshake. Pretty silly.
That'd explain it.
I watched the world championship athletics today on my iPhone, pirched rather geekingly in front of my keyboard , maybe that explains my distraction and lack of cohesion today. That said, it was great to watch live TV, especially athletics which I love watching. Looking forward to watching the 200/400m finals on Thursday. Usain Bolt will be running.
Also, I was struck with a thought on the tube today(which is strange with my distinct lack of capacity to think today). The thought came into being when I saw I White iphone on the tube. I immediately thought about my iPhone which was black. Then took cognisance of the fact that there were only two colours that the iPhone came in. This might seem trivial but over the weekend I saw coloured, 3rd part modified versions of the phone in blue, pink with diamonds etc...I'm not talking about the covers, I'm talking about the engineered cases.
Why the colours black and White? Thinking about it further, one is the total opposite of the other. one is defined as the lack of light;black and the other as the excess of light;White.
So why the preference of White or Black? Why not green or blue? is there any reason besides liking black and white that makes these two colours more desirable than other colours?
Like Green, red and orange are all essentially inbetween black and white, they make up the spectrum and it seems to ne that essentially that black and white are the two extremes of the colour spectrum and are the purest of colours. Is it because they are the simplest and most contrasting colours to each other and compared to any other colour that they are distinctly unique, apparent and common. Does this make these colours more desirable then? dunno.
Anyway, I'm determined to get tomorrow off to a flying start :-)
