Walked from work yesterday, in the sun, slops, shorts and a t-shirt. It took me in excess of two hours to get home.
I just strolled. Pulled into a Starbucks midway through and bought a ice cold drink and nursed it all the way back to Waterloo. As I walked back past a grassed embankment, I noticed what I thought was everyone looking at me. They weren't but I thought that. I had a quick look at myself to see I didn't have a trailing piece of toilet paper under my foot or something...I didn't.
Walking along the Thames is really beautiful. There was a lot of preparations going on for the Olympics happening in less than a week now. Saw what must have been two South African athletes around London Bridge area - they had national colour track suits on and I know how track suit colours are the way we represent ourselves...I had to buy a few while participating in national tournaments when I was a kid. Some things never change. Was expensive as I remember.
Eitherway, when I got to Wimbledon, I saw that Batman - The dark night rises, was showing in 5 minutes. I thought, heck and bought a ticket and went to watch it. It was awesome. That's all I have to say about that. I think I'll be walking home again today. This weeks sunshine should not be missed and is pretty much what fuelled my walk yesterday and will again today. I might run but this is becoming more and more less likely if I run with someone today, if I run by myself then I could probably get by... After all I was born in the sunshine, right?
Got home pretty late, 23:47 exactly or somewhere around there, headed into the local 24 hour Tesco petrol station, bought some stuff for my then midnight snack, got home, whipped up a set of rolls. Consumed them. Engulfed them. Put them away.
Went to bed.

This weekend was pretty good. A good combination of stuff being done and stuff being not being done. Friday I worked from home. I worked straight off the sofa. I went for my fastest 6km run ever, now I am pretty sucky at running and have never fancied running all through my school life. Sub 5:30 per KM was my goal and I reached it. Funny it was real hard, but subsequent runs at the same or just below seem now easier. Is that the power of pushing oneself? I was constantly in the upper 180s heart rate wise and afterwards transferee myself from opening the door straight into the shower. That evening I took my neighbour for a walk around Wimbledon village and then the common, I had a steak and cheese wrap and spent most of the walk sticking my hand in the cookie packet of coconut cookies I bought just before we headed out. I realised while walking around the common how that this view that we were seeing was how I always pictured Wimbledon in my mind's eye. Saturday morning I went to the seasonal car boot sale. The weather had blessed us with beaming sunshine, and I browsed the stalls around the semi-long grass filled park. I browsed for hours; there is definitely something sinister about enjoying the rummage through others things. I had nursed a Lime drink I bought earlier and later an ice cream. I strolled out in the same way I strolled in.
I wondered into a cell phone shop, found a running arm band for my phone which is exactly what I wanted to eventually get: my Bluetooth headphones work with line of sight and putting my phone in my pocket messes up the signal and I hear all my songs in staccato...not great. So this is what I needed. I also bought 3 new shirts because I'm lacking shirt diversity- having 5 t-shirts in the same colour(I do) probably is safe but dull. I also wondered(wondering is what Stus do best) into a cancer research store: Bought a shirt right off the mannequin. Tried it on, liked it, mine.
I spent the walk home contemplating two things. Shall I go watch the new Batman or go for a run with my new armband. It was too hot for a run, and besides I could save the new experience for the next day(run home from work) so I decided to dump the stuff at home and head back out to the cinema. That didn't happen. I got home and figured that I'd just watch the cricket and watch the movie, I'll give that opportunity to another day. There is no need to do everything on one day. I can do it whenever I life; tomorrow maybe. Today even. I watched two great things on TV. South Africa's first batting innings where records tumbled and Captain Corelli's mandolin. Both a wonderful sofa experience.
Somewhere between the cricket and the movie I found myself on the kitchen floor using my laptop which was nice.
anyway, I'm at work now.

I took a Lady Bug traveling. I discovered she was on my rucksack when I sat down on the tube at Morgate station. She was so small but looked grown, she was a tiny series of orange-red and black dots - that moved enthusiastically. I think she was probably attracted by my brightly coloured, red, rucksack which is rather bright. She must have mistaken it for a red flower. I figured that I couldn't just loose sight of her while she wondered all over my bag, which was on my lap. The thing I figured, is that she would probably have been squished in the tube - the tube is no place for a lady bug...So I took out my protective earphone capsule and put her in it. I think the person opposite me looked at me. I checked up on her ever 10 minutes or so, just to make sure she got enough air, she was ok and hadn't died. She was happy as larry. I hoped that she might not die - she didn't, she was fine the whole journey. I popped the capsule open as the train pulled off from Clapham North or there abouts.
I got out at Wimbledon, made my way out the underground, through the ticket barriers, across the road and walked home. On the way I checked up on her, opened the capsule and she was fine, running around like an inquisitive thing which was a relief - id began to think that she may have over heated or something but no. I got home, coerced her on to my first finger and then transferred her to the large shrub underneath my neighbours window. She clung on a leaf and I was relieved.
I guess the weird thing is that while I was sitting on that tube in Central London, looking at this critter, innocent, alive and breathing and scurrying around my red flower bag, it occurred to me how it deserves to live, just like me.
Apart from my creepy crawly rescue effort, I decided to head out for another run, because the previous days run was not that good, so I had to make up for it.
At work I invented a story about a fly that was bugging a colleague at work(who told me about it). I called the Fly Lee-Roy in the story and he worked for the FSSB( The Fly Shore-ditch Surveillance Bureau ) and he was an agent on an assignment to collect I formation for the protection of creepy crawlies. I kinda enjoyed that. It wasn't linking my C++ dynamic link library to my C# project but it was sure fun.
I finished my book during lunch, I now need to phone my mom for her next book recommendation. The kindle has been great.
Just finished an evening run through, little London, Lloyds wharf, Butlers wharf. it was pretty good.
Im not sure what tomorrow will bring...
