I’m on fire recently with regards to my bi-weekly run into the office. One Monday I set a new PR and today I smashed it and set a new one. The funny thing about today was that there was a wind blowing against me a times. I thought this would cause me to slow down tremendously but looking at the time, it didn’t very much(ok, it did a little or perhaps that was me).

My breathing is definitely more efficient than its ever been – there were certainly times  when I though to myself, my upper body is fine, its just my legs are getting tired. My upper body (breathing) could run for miles and miles and miles while after a while, my legs start to fatigue. More specifically its my calves but I’m learning to keep a good technique that If I don't deviate too much from it, makes the good ‘ol calves respond well.

I woke up twice last night. I wasn’t as fast today as I was on Monday which is expected as I’m more fatigued moving into mid-week but not by much. My pace was only 4:35 instead of Monday’s 4:25, which is only 10secs.  76% of the time I was in zone 3 which is a HR range of 153-169. Its strange to think that my HR was at one stage near 200, but obviously I’m much fitter now.

I had a cracking Monday run this morning. It was just churn-out-after-churn-out of constant pace all the way and I didn’t feel uncomfortable at any stage. I can genuinely say, that my respiration is not a problem, the fatigue only sets into my quads but even that wasn’t enough to consciously feel under pressure throughout the run.

I did decide to run without my running jacket this time, so I was a long sleeve technical running top. It was one of those training tops. I also wore shorts so its really not that cold now and I did well. I didn’t even notice the cold. Interestingly I did feel my lower back a little during the run but not enough to be a problem thankfully. Perhaps this was because of the strain I placed on it earlier this morning.

Looking at my stats, all this feel-goodness paid off – 2 achievements and one PR! Check it out:

So what are we talking about here? We’ve got a 4:25/km pace with is up on my average of 4:30’ over 9.7Km.

I got a PR running on Oxford Rd, which is interesting because I didn’t feel like that that was a particularly a fast straight.

Very happy however.

Speaking about earlier this morning, I slept pretty well. I think that was because I slept a lot on Sunday. That was a good move. That’s what Sundays are for!

2nd time this week

Another good run, that’s the 2nd one this week. I thought I’d slowed down because I could feel my shins near the end of the run and my legs were getting really tired. My respiration is no problem, its the fatigue on the legs. But I got there in one piece. I’m feeling really motivated recently and I was wondering why but it doesn’t matter.

Felt fine.
