I’ve got this feature that I’ve enabled on my watch – auto pause and auto resume. Causes me no end of trouble. Usually, I’m fairly used to pressing stop when I stop and start when I start – for example if, at I’m an an intersection, waiting for cars top cross or something like that. Problem is that if it automatically stops, and then I forget its done that and I stop it by reaching out and pressing the stop button while I’m approaching the stopping point – it saves the entire exercise and stops the exercise. So basically todays 10km run was a few 2km ones instead of one big one. Argh but I don’t really mind now that I’ve changed it back to ‘manual’
Also I read in a book, “The art of running faster” once that its running should be fun and that if you are ever in pain, just stop. Then start again. What a simple thing but ‘we’ don’t do that – our egos say that we must not stop and we should push on and endue the pain…why? Its no fun. Stop, rest and go again and run while its not painful because thats what makes running fun. I’m not talking about stopping because you’re tired, I’m talking about stopping because your sides are splitting.
Anyway, that’s what I did with about 1km left in my run. Felt real good doing that – its good to feel almost sensible!
