I'm sitting on the train and see people reading novels, sci-fi stories and fantasy stories and I wonder what it is that is so boring about the life around them that allows to delve into these sub-worlds, fantasies and pretense? Creativity is attractive however, at times I wonder why. I sense at times that the human being must explore the creativity of others, perceive and wonder and then I wonder to what end this is useful: There are inventions and advancements that are based on thought, futuristic perception and as thought is not material, it can represent fictional material which could be the best playground for thought that may one day permiate to real-world human advancements. To this end, fictional novels serve as an exciting perception of thinking. My only wonder is if readers loose sight of the thought behind the drama, environment, characters and situations and treat such adaptions of human thought merely just as entertainment. Many times I sit in the tube and wonder if people read to be entertained or are excited by the ideas explored, enough to stop and explore them independently
Some do. I've witness 'geeks' find concepts and ideas in movies, novels explain and describe 'cool' things they've come across. There are perhaps example of non-geeks to I such as those who bring concepts in conversation, generally.

Are train readers merely passing the time? If this is the case - it's a waste of life's time, as idling is not productive and all humans should strive to make a difference. In it's defence, idling on the train is a waste of time - sleeping is more productive - for the body. However idling is at times good for the human psyche - point is - repetitive, non-moderate idleness is silly - are train readers non-moderate idlers?

The news, a different story however lately is a speculative mix of hype and make-shift histeria made to instill an urgency in matters that aren't essentially important but aspects, when pulled at the right angle, upset readers and thus indulge our interests. These newspapers are stupid. A newspaper can put a very emotional clause in inverted quoted, make that the headline and take no responsibility for the effects that headline has on the public - a quote is not official and represents a view/opinion of someone but the public doesn't u derstand it - as far as they are concerned, it's in the papers, written and this true. This is dishonest, misleading and irresponsible of news papers. These are specially true of the papers on the tube, that everyone reads - the only papers they get for free. I wonder how much speculative conversation these papers that publish misleading articles under 'crooked' headings generate. I'd imagine they fuel at least half of the conversations about underlying topics discussed among the general public. Obviously this generates rumours, lies and uninformed communication. In a way, they control the public in this respect but I wonder how much they know this.

Back to my dear train commuters - are they all brain dead zombies assimilating misinterpretating news, side-stepping cognitive thought-provoking ideas in fiction novels? I don't know.

There must be some who are and who aren't.
