So I headed out to our Company's first BBQ event last night at some hotel. Was pretty awesome looking place, quite nice and very hotelly. Everything was elegant and well presented and upmarket so kinda impressed.
This hotel was located right next to one of the few original remnants of the Roman London wall. Very cool. Another fine example of how the English preserve their heritage through the ages.
My 6 month tea total stint, has now truly been battered and beaten up - I had 4 Winhoek lagers, which I enjoyed somewhat and held me in good stead or most of the evening. Oh, yeah so this was the day I donned my suit which kinda fitted the Hotel atmosphere sweetly so totally digged that and it wore beautifully.
My first interesting conversation started about the London Wall and progressed to the how Paris has changed throughout the ages and an interesting talk about the Unreal Development Kit as well as identifying and discussing two if the longest running films of all times of 9 and 10 hours running time! Both of which are considered cinematical masterpieces. One of which was called perhaps 'Shoella' or 'fluella' about I think the French invasion of Russia(brutal red war) and can't remember the other or what it was about. Obviously my memory was taking a back seat.
Conversation fluctuated from Cultural differences between arranged marriages, XBox games, Designing a marketing and partner program to South African peculiarities.
The food was pretty good, found out that often on events like this the tab at the bar goes in excess of £1000 and that was pretty impressive. That's a lot if people drinking though.
Found myself after my fourth lager, adequately drinked, so I decided to head off. While wondering back from the event, I decided to walk along the themes and over tower bridge which looked spectacular in the night lights, also so did the Tower of Lobdon. I started raining but I didn't care - it's worth just being there and enjoying the moment. So I just felt, saw and experienced the night life of the moment.
I got home, grabbed the pizza I ordered. yesterday out if the fridge and had that for dinner. Had about 3 pieces before I was ok to put it away and head into bed. All in all I was quite impressed to find 1) Windhoek lager, my father's favourite beer(he, like me are very casual drinkers) which I relished. 2) The London Wall was cool to see up close and personal. 3) I had a rather chilled out evening which was really unstressed and cool. The atmosphere was cool and I spoke to a few people I don't chat alot with with mixed results but generally good.
Wonderfully, strangly it's only Thursday today! That's pretty freakin' odd for me.
