I've been thinking about the feasibility of world travel in a lifetime. If for instance I wanted to make a start on the 195 countries in the world - how feasible an attempt would that be?Would it be mind numbingly difficult? Their seems to be many inherent and obvious factors. Time and money being the most obvious. Less obvious things are accommodation and protection coupled with traveling rights and visas.
Some countries are quite terrible, for instance the Congo as it would be fairly easy to become a victim as would it be in most countries. So essentially one needs to understand or plan ones journey quite well as to avoid idleness - perhaps with time running out, this might be the least of ones worries.
The other issue is poising touch with the world. Could ones pursuit while enjoyable detach you from your family and friends and even your career? Quite a real possibility. Then the thought that perhaps a smarter way to travel is to accomplish ones quest without the disadvantages.
How one travels and works at the same time? Contracting? How one travels and stays in touch? Twitter, email and phone calls?
It's certainly a bit tricky. Especially to consistently guarantee that all these are met each time one travels.
But with these envisions of cosmopolitan travel, if each success you make along the way is an achievement on your life - then, surely it is worth it.
